Given it’s only a few days before Christmas, I thought I’d post something at least a little bit festive. Last year I did Christmas presents on a budget, so I thought I’d do something slightly different this year, and I saw the Christmas tag being featured on other blogs so I thought why not? I’m a sucker for these sort of things anyway.
What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?
Die Hard?? Hahaaha, I kid, I kid. The Holiday has been my favourite for years, tbh. Honestly, as the nerd I am, I’m more into rewatching all the Doctor Who Christmas specials, really!
Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?
Definitely Christmas morning! How can you open presents Christmas Eve if Santa is delivering them? 😉 I open presents from friends at work when I get them, though. Just because otherwise we don’t get to see each other’s reactions if we leave them until Christmas morning.
This year I’m having to things a bit differently though. Since my mum is doing a night shift Christmas Eve and I’m working until the afternoon on Christmas Day (the perks of working in care homes, among over services that are 24/7) we’re leaving presents until I get back from work. Gives me something to look forward too, and doesn’t ruin everything should work be a little bit too stressful and I had already opened my presents.
Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I haven’t really properly appreciated them until I could no longer do it, which is sad. But every Boxing Day we used to go and visit my nan and granddad for lunch. It was nice just spending time as a small family unit. My nan always used to make sure she’d recorded the Christmas special of Doctor Who for me as well, in case I had missed it. I never did, of course, but it was just nice to know she’d done it just for me, and I would always watch it again with her.
Honestly, I dislike most of the traditional festive foods. I don’t like mince pies, or Christmas cake, or Christmas Pudding. I do love a good old Christmas dinner though. In my house we also do salmon, salad, and prawn cocktail as a little starter, which I’m extremely fond of!
Favourite Christmas Present?
Several years ago, my mum brought my a personalised jewellery box. On the top she had got “Johanna, Love From Mum x” engraved on it. I don’t know why but I teared up opening that present.
Favourite Christmas Scent?
I’m going to sound boring here, but I don’t really have one!
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Not really! I’ve always wanted to go to Midnight mass though! After a trip to the pub as well of course XD
What Tops Your Tree?
It varies from year to year. Sometimes it’s a star. But this year we’ve got an angel on top of our tree.
As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
This may sound kind of spoilt, but there was never a gift I asked for that I never received. When I was a kid I asked for a bike, a doll house, a Nintendo DS, a Wii, and I got them all. Not in the same year, though. I wouldn’t say they were wild, just a little bit expensive. But if I got them, I never expected to receive anything else other than that.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
I just love getting to spend some quiet, relaxing time with the people I care about most, have some drinks, some nice food, and just watch some movies and have a chat together. As long as I get to have that at Christmas then I’m a happy girl.
